Cruise Ship Disney Wonder Visits San Diego Cruise Ship Terminal

Disney Wonder

Disney Wonder from North Harbor Drive.

The local TV news reported that Disney Wonder was in port yesterday. so I had to go down to Harbor Drive to take a look. Very crowded and I had to park about a mile away but the ship was definitely a wonder to behold. she is one of four cruise ships of the current Disney Cruise Line Fleet. She is 83,000 GT and can accommodate 2,400 guests with a crew of 945. That’s almost one crew member for every foot length of the ship. Disney Wonder was launched in 1999, having been built by the same firm in Venice, Italy that built the Costa Concordia.

Disney Wonder Visits San Diego

Disney Wonder at The San Diego Cruise ship Terminal. Note she dwarfs the whale watching tour boat Marietta just leaving the pier (right). From my own Flickr page

It appears that this is to be the first visit of many, as the ship begins regular service to Alaska and Mexico from Los Angeles. A spectacular start to the 2012-2013 cruise season for the Port Of San Diego.
